My name is Marivette Torres. I am a Latina and a fluent Spanish speaker. I am a full-time student at the Midwives College of Utah (MCU) pursing an Associates of Science in Midwifery and am in training to become a CPM. I began as a continuing ed student with MCU in January of 2015, and became an enrolled student in August of 2015.
I am married and I have given birth to eight children. My first child was born via surgical birth. My second child was a VBAC in hospital. My third was my first VBAC home birth. After that, I had three more home births, a home birth transfer due to pre-eclampsia, and my final birth was a healing home birth. My children’s ages are 29, 25, 22, 20, 18, 17, 15, and 11.
I am a proud abueltia to two grand babies, soon to be three!
This blog is all about my journey in training to become a certified professional midwife (CPM) in California. My goal is to be finished with my training to become a CPM and be licensed by the fall of 2019. It may take me longer, though, and that is just fine, too.
