My name is Marivette Torres. I am a full-time student at the Midwives College of Utah pursing an Associates of Science in Midwifery. I began as a continuing ed student with MCU in January of 2015, and became an enrolled student in August of 2015.
I am married and I have given birth to eight children. My first child was born via surgical birth. My second child was a VBAC in hospital. My third was my first VBAC home birth. After that, I had three more home births, a home birth transfer due to pre-eclampsia, and my final birth was a healing home birth. My children’s ages are 27, 23, 20, 18, 17, 15, 13, and 9. We are expecting our first grandchild the beginning of August.
This blog is all about my journey to becoming a certified midwife, licensed by the California Medical State Board. My goal is to be fully certified and licensed by the fall of 2019. It may take me longer, though, and that is just fine, too.
